Winter Session
North Branch Arts  is offering a variety of classes for our Winter Session.  This session will run for six weeks starting the week of January 13th and ending on February 21st.  Please note that Members receive priority registration rights.  To learn how to become a member, please visit our Membership page.  Click here to Register.

Crafty Kids (Ages 2-5 with an Adult)
  • You and your tot will spend quality time together while creating mini masterpieces inspired by children's literature.  This class will use a variety of mediums such as watercolors, collage, and pastels, with a focus on the colorful process of art!
  • When: Mondays from 10:00-10:50
  • Cost for the 6-week session is $75 for non-members, $67.50 for members.

Mini Masters (Ages 3-5)
  • This class will allow your budding artist to be inspired by some of the most famous artists including Van Gogh, Picasso, and Warhol.  We will have fun creating beautiful and colorful works of art.  We will draw, color, paint, and explore new mediums too!
  • When: Wednesdays from 10:00-10:50
  • Cost for the 6-week session is $75 for non-members, $67.50 for members.

Fun with Paper Mache (Ages 6 -11)

Get ready to explore the medium of paper mache!  Students will enjoy using paper mache to create a variety of projects.  We may be inspired by famous artists, fictional characters, animals, or objects!  *This class is taken with students from our Art Explorers After School Program.

Drawing and Sculpture (Ages 6-11)We'll alternate weeks to learn two different arts in this class!  Some weeks, we'll learn the art of drawing, from sketching characters to shading techniques.  Other weeks, we'll create fun and funky sculptures.  Get ready to stretch your imagination!    *This class is taken with students from our Art Explorers After School Program.

  • When: Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30

    Runway Fashion (Ages 8-13)
  • Learn all about the art of fashion illustration!  Aspiring fashion designers will illustrate designs using colored pencils, markers, and watercolors.  This class will teach the importance of selecting a design theme and discuss proportions of the fashion figure and garment silhouettes.  Students will learn about figure sketching, rendering techniques, fabric selection, and color choice.  Create your very own runway collection!
  • *Returning students will build on past skills.
  • When: Saturdays from 10:00-12:00 (2 hour class)  *This class will start January 11th and will run for 6 weeks.
  • Cost for the 6-week session is $135 for non-members, $120 for members.

  • Fun with Improv! (Ages 10-13)
This class will offer a fun and supportive learning environment for students to explore and develop their creativity!  Students will learn the basics of improve through games that encourage imagination, spontaneity and creative expression.  Classes will include participation in warm-up exercises to basic scenes, character games and activities that involve teamwork.  This class will help students develop skills in self confidence, listening, quick thinking, and team dynamics.  *Class size is limited to 8 students.

When:  Mondays from 6:30-7:30     This class will start January 13th and run six weeks from that date.

Cost for the 6-week session is $75 for non-members, $67.50 for members.

Studio Art: Individualized Instruction (Ages 8 - 18)


  • Students are encouraged through individual attention to pursue their own goals of creativity.  Beginners will develop technical drawing skills focusing on line, value, and color, which are later utilized in the materials such as charcoal and pastel, leading into more challenging media such as acrylic, ink, and watercolor.  Advanced students will build upon their conceptual knowledge with challenges based on their portraiture, landscape, abstraction, installation, cartooning, and sequential art (comics).  While utilizing a combination of reference materials such as source photographs, still life, and imagination, the students will pursue personal artistic interests and engage in new individual projects, collaborate with one another or participate in all-inclusive class projects.  Keeping a sketchbook or journal will be encouraged, but not required.
  • Tuesdays: 6:30-8:30pm
  •                  OR
  • Thursdays: 6:30-8:30pm
  • The cost for studio art instruction is $225 for non-members and $200 for members for a 10-week session with 2 hours of instruction per week.  You may sign up anytime, and your individual session will run for 10 classes from that point.  They do not need to be consecutive weeks.

  • TGIF and other Special Workshops
  • On Fridays (and some Saturdays/Sundays) throughout the month, we offer an opportunity to hang out with friends and create some cool artwork in an open studio!   We'll host workshops for elementary, middle school, and high school ages (specific dates TBD).  We'll provide the pizza; you create the masterpieces on your own or with friends!  We'll post specific dates/age groups on our website soon:  stay tuned!  Once we know the dates, please RSVP each month to northbrancharts@gmail.com at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your spot.

  • Cost is $25 per week for non-members, $20 for members

Art Night Out! Adults (21+)
Every 3rd Friday of the month, we offer this special workshop in which we replicate the work of a famous artist! (Each 3rd Friday is its own workshop; this is not a 6-week class.) We go through very basic, stepby-step instruction on how to draw the image onto the canvas and how to mix the paints to match what we are replicating. It’s a workshop that’s fun for both beginners and experienced painters! For each workshop, please RSVP to northbrancharts@gmail.com at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your spot for that week.

When: Every 3rd Friday of the month 7:00-9:00pm

Next Art Night Out:  January 17th;  Theme:  "Picasso"  This time, we'll focus on some of his lesser-known works.

Cost is $25 per week ($20 for members)
